Constraint Induced Movement Therapy or “CIMT” is an intensive therapy that uses a cast to restrain a child’s dominant arm to promote movement in their affected side 

Who is it for? 

For children who present with one sided weakness would benefit the most from CIMT.

Some common diagnoses include:  

  • Cerebral Palsy  
  • Hemiplegia  
  • Brachial Plexus Injury  
  • Brain Injury  
  • Stroke

How does an intensive work?

Intensive therapy programs deliver services to children at an increased frequency, enabling them to achieve significant progress toward their goals.

The CIMT Intensive is for 2 or 3 hours a day for 5 days a week for 2 weeks.

It can be a 20 or 30 hour program based on the child’s needs.

About Cheshire Fitness Zone’s CIMT Program:

The CIMT “Helping Hands” Program, is led by CFZ’s occupational therapist Morgan Salerno.

Our intensive program is designed to support children with limited use of one side of their body due to conditions like hemiplegia, cerebral palsy, and traumatic brain injuries. This 30-hour intensive program, held over two weeks, focuses on personalized goals tailored to each child’s unique abilities.

The program’s date and time will be determined after sign-up, with sessions held at our Cheshire and Orange locations.

Please note that intensive programs like Helping Hands are out-of-pocket expenses and are not covered by insurance.
