Meet Bianca Lane, Feeding Therapist, OT, Lactation Counselor
Can you describe what a typical day working at CFZ is like?
A typical day at Cheshire Fitness Zone, I think everybody has probably said this, but everyday is different. I could plan every minute of every session and not one thing would go the way that I planned, so it is definitely really important to just roll with whatever the day throws your way.
How did you know you wanted to work with kids?
So I actually didn’t plan on working with kids right out of school. I really enjoyed learning about all of the populations that OTs work with. I just happened to take a job that was pediatrics and it was a good fit. The first one that I chose was a good fit for me and I liked it so I went with it. Before coming to CFZ I was doing birth-3 and doing a lot of feeding. I had to teach myself a lot in that job, just because I was the only provider in the house a lot of the time. I really started to like feeding and I think nutrition is such a big part of development even before a kid is born. So I think it is so important that if we give kids a good nutritional base, we can teach them good habits and give them good development that can have lifelong affects.
What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part about working at Cheshire Fitness Zone is definitely all the awesome people that I work with on a daily basis who support and challenge me to no end.
What are three words to describe you and why?
Three words that describe me are definitely flexible. I would also say curious because I really enjoy learning new things and outdoorsy because I like to be outside.
What is something you wish to achieve over the next ten years?
I really enjoy specializing in feeding and lactation counseling here, so in the next 10 years I would like to further my knowledge base so we can continue to provide more comprehensive services for our clients in that area.
