Meet Bianca Bolduc, PT
Can you describe a typical day at Cheshire Fitness Zone?
A typical day at Cheshire Fitness Zone would be described as very spontaneous, in my opinion. We come in with our set schedule everyday, however that schedule does not show you or tell you how your patients is going to react that day, what is going to interest them, what’s going to motivate them or any behaviors that they’ll have that day. So your day can be very calm or chaotic depending on that. You have to be very flexible and very creative so that each child can learn through the play that you are creating for them.
How did you know you wanted to work with kids?
I think I have always wanted to work with kids. Growing up I was always the designated baby sitter, the chaperone of all of the cousins. So I kind of just assumed the role of mother hen and of the responsible cousin. My mom is also a pediatric nurse, so I really had that influence growing up and it led me to where I am today.
What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part about my job is the interaction between the children and the families. You really get to grow a special bond with each child that you are treating and they become family. So it is that really special connection that I look forward to having with these children and seeing them each week.
What are three words to describe you and why?
I would say three words that describe me are compassionate, determined and energetic. I am very compassionate towards all of my patients. I want to really feel what they are going through so I can better help them and better achieve their goals. I am also very determined for my children to achieve their goals. I work as hard as I can in thinking of creative ideas and collaborating with other team members in acquiring different equipment for my patients to really achieve their goals and be able to better function in their environment. Lastly, I would say that I am energetic because I work with kids everyday and half of the time, I consider myself a child. You have to be fun and playful and really make the sessions fun for your kids.
What is something you wish to achieve over the next ten years?
Over the next ten years, I would really like to grow as a pediatric physical therapist. I would like to take more of a leadership role within my practice and also possibly get certified in the pediatric specialty. I would also like to continue growing as an educator and as a professor.
